About Me
Hello. I founded TexHaptics after a 37 year career in higher education as a professor of apparel design which I loved. My specialty is functional apparel design and my research focuses on clothing comfort. I am delighted to say that the research I conducted for my Ph.D. in the 1990s on sensorial comfort is cited today in Sensors (2020), Journal of Neurophysiology (2021), Journal of Polymer Engineering (2020) and in over 30 peer reviewed research journals since 2012. I have had the privilege of helping many companies with the design and evaluation of their products or prototypes in fields ranging from fashion, to military, to sports, medical and wearable technology. You can read more about my design philosophy and background experiences here.
Design is second nature to me and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills with those interested in developing a product that is going to be worn on the body. Comfort, health and well-being are important to all designs. While there are plenty of companies out there who will take your product to market for you, my expertise is in helping you go from a design idea to the physical development of that idea in the form of a prototype, or test of your design. Some of my clients want adaptive clothing for a medical condition; others might be seeking out a specific textile/material for their design; and others just want an opinion on their idea or prototype. I am willing to advise you at any stage in the design process.
Can I help you with your design idea? Let's have a conversation!
